I Miss the Snow

It is times like this, that living in Los Angeles makes me long for the cold and wind of Chicago.

I made scarves for my mom, sister and dad for Christmas gifts, using a great super thick wool Burly Spun yarn by Brown Sheep Yarn. I loved this yarn so much, that I decided to carry it in my own store. Anyhoo, I used this thick wool to make cabled scarves that were super long and I added even more length with fringes.

After completing the cabled scarf for my mom I tried it on, and I LOVED it! I so badly wanted to be able to wear this scar myself, but the truth is, in Southern California, it just was not feasible. Now, if I limit my outdoors activity to 3am to 5am, then I could wear it for those couple of hours, but the truth is, I would roast. So then I started thinking about all of the places I could wear this scarf in Chicago. The grocery store, Michigan Ave., hanging out, whatever. It would be the perfect scarf to wear in a snowball fight with my sister. I could wrap it around me so many times, I could ward off an arsenal of snowballs coming at me.

But oh well, I wrapped it carefully, put a bow on it, and dutifully shipped it off to my mother. She better like it!
